LSPSC 2019 Summit: GTCOM’s AI "Block Technology" Facilitates Linguistic Service Reform and Expedites "Going Global" of Chinese Enterprises

The LSP Summit China 2019 LSP with International Trade/Cooperation and the Annual Conference of Translation Service Committee of TAC (the "LSPSC 2019 Summit") guided by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province and jointly hosted by the Translation Service Committee of Translators Association of China (the "TSC") and the Shandong Translation Association were held in Jinan, Shandong on October 19 and 20, 2019. Li Yongsen, the deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province, Liu Yanqiu, the director of Jinan Municipal Bureau of Commerce, Huang Song, the director of the Translation Service Committee of Translators Association of China, and Liu Shunyuan, the president of Shandong Translation Association, spoke at the event. GTCOM, serving as the summit's top strategic partner, presented its AI language-block technology. Its LanguageBox (smart language box) provided high-quality language-technology solutions to facilitate the innovation of exchange models at the summit and accelerate Chinese enterprises in their efforts to "go global."

With the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the accelerated internationalization of Chinese enterprises, cross-language cultural exchange has become an important task in "going global," which has brought forth new development opportunities for companies engaged in translation services. TSC Director Huang Song said in his speech that, in the past decades, with the rapid development of information technology and translation technology, the organization model and management model of translation have undergone revolutionary changes. The summit has provided a platform for the in-depth communication between the supply and demand sides of translation services, which will provide new thoughts and ideas for the in-depth cooperation and mutual benefits for both parties, as well as the orderly development of the translation service market for a new phase.

During the summit, the Translation Service Committee of Translators Association of China and the Shandong Translation Association signed strategic cooperation agreements with the Shandong Service Trade Association and the Jinan Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

Focusing on the theme of "in-depth integration and mutual benefits," organizations and industry elites from both the demand and supply sides of translation services exchanged views from different perspectives such as language service demands in export-oriented economy, language service standards, best practice of language services, current application of translation technology, and cultivation of inter-disciplinary talents for language services.

In the era of AI big data, GTCOM actively explores innovative language service models through new technological means, and provides solutions based on technologies to meet the market demands in the new era. In a speech titled Demand-Oriented Interpreting Service Solutions, based on GTCOM's experience in providing language-service solutions for various large-scale events, GTCOM Vice President Chai Ying asserted that language service providers should comprehensively, accurately and timely identify demands while reasonably allocating resources so as to prioritize emergencies. Additionally, she said, with the rapid development of speech recognition, machine translation and other language technologies, AI hardware has provided new choices for language-service solutions.

Speaking at a summit titled Translation Technology and Intelligent Hardware Innovation, Ms. Shi Simei, the director of GTCOM's Localization Department, introduced the new challenges and coping strategies in contemporary language service tasks from aspects such as the new formats and procedures employed in language service, new products of language technology, and various new professional requirements. She explained that language technology and language service have become increasingly important in all fields, scenarios and exchanges as they facilitate each other. GTCOM's YEEKIT (intelligent language-technology tool platform), YeeCaption (one-stop subtitle translation software), as well as other language technology products targeting various vertical field machine-translation engines are providing substantial support to facilitate the development of language service industry.
