The first China Beijing International Language & Culture Expo (ILCE) was held in Beijing on September 11 and 12. Wang Ning, the deputy mayor of Beijing and director of the Beijing Municipal Language Commission, and Vice Minister of Education Du Zhanyuan--who also serves as director of the State Language Commission--attended the exhibition and inspected the booth of Global Tone Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (GTCOM) in the company of CEO Eric Yu. Mr. Yu described the company's achievements in language-technology research and technological achievements as well as the creation of language services in the context of big data.
As Mr. Yu led his visitors through the booth, he stated that China Translation Corporation is a historical witness of the Chinese translation industry and the development of Chinese language technology. As a holding subsidiary of China Translation Corporation, GTCOM, by virtue of its more than 40 years of excellent management and operation experience, hundreds of millions of corpora and massive strength in technological R&D, has established itself comprehensively in the fields of big data, speech recognition and artificial intelligence, in the process launching the the YeeCloud language-technology ecosystem and the YeeSight big-data technology ecosystem, empowering language culture with technology and providing complete technological support for the innovation and upgrading of the language industry.
After the staff demonstrated multiple technologies and products such as Languagebox and Insider, Mr. Yu stated that, according to the data collected by the YeeSight big-data ecosystem, the technological influence of major cities around the world has encouraged great diversification in recent years, whereby the total amount of transmission in the past five years has reached an astonishing frequency of 140 million. The status of Silicon Valley as a technology center is well known. As China continues to flourish in the realm of science and technology, Beijing's influence with respect to technological innovation has developed rapidly and the overall data has surpassed that of the San Francisco Bay Area. Wang Ning said Beijing's technological influence is inseparable from the development of technology enterprises. GTCOM's development advantages in the fields of big data and artificial intelligence will play an indispensable role in promoting Beijing and the country as a whole.
Subsequently, as Mr. Du learned about GTCOM's cooperation with universities across the country, he again affirmed GTCOM's achievements in language services and big data, adding that the integrated innovation and development of information technology and education is an inevitable trend of education reform. Currently, the Language Big Data Alliance (LBDA), which has 167 universities and institutions around the world, has provided support for its members in terms of teaching, practice, scientific research and business of language services, in the process pursuing cooperation in those areas through the hundreds of millions of corpora and platform resources made available by GTCOM. Thus it has facilitated the convergence, exchange and sharing of global resources while promoting the cultivation of Chinese language service talents and the innovation and development of language technologies.
